Adding a little more magic to the holidays with the PNP Console

As a self diagnosed Christmas crazy, I really enjoy putting together a magical holiday season for my family. The excitement leading up to Santa’s arrival, the arrival of Elfie – our unique elf, Christmas classics snuggled up in front of the television; Christmas is a very cheery event in our household.

For the last few years Santa has sent my son a personalized video. Watching him view the video, the twinkle in his eye as his name is spoken, is priceless; especially when Santa already knows what he wants and so much about him. He will watch the video over and over with the same excitement. As a creatively frugal mom, I like to provide every little thing I can to add to the magic of the season, but am always on the hunt to keep costs to a minimal so Santa can still actually deliver on the big day.

This year, Portable North Pole (PNP), is available FREE for all! In previous years they only offered a paid holiday video version. The free videos will be available in a few weeks, but the paid pre-season fan package is available now. Eager to check out the enhancements to the upgrade version and send a video (Unlimited Holiday Pass gives access to unlimited videos and phone calls from the big man himself!), I played around this past weekend. Christmas is full swing mid-November in our household and the anticipation is already brewing. I can send multiple personalized calls or videos up until Christmas, meaning Santa is REALLY watching this year.

PNP Console

Saturday night Santa called my son to let him know that the elves are also watching and he updates his nice list every month (the call was enhanced with adorable elf bustle & giggling in the background). He also gave him some good generic messages like doing his best and listening to his parents. This was the beginning of the magic this 2014 season, as Santa called out his name, and his eyes lit up. This is what makes Christmas so special. Seeing that charmed, dreamlike feeling that overcomes his soul, the excitement and pure innocence – this captures the whole feeling of what Christmas should be.

With the paid subscription you have access to create an unlimited number of calls for a whole year! Examples of types of calls –did Santa get their letter (Santa can confirm!), behaviour, special achievements, happy new years, birthday and more! 22 different story lines (or reasons) to call are preset and ready to be customized.

Sunday night Santa followed up with a video. The premium video option gives you 3 story lines to choose from (with either a nice, almost nice or naughty perspective), uploading of up to 5 photos per video, and is up to 5 minutes of video! Best of all these videos are downloadable and can be saved, so you can watch them in future years too. Past years I would videotape him watching his video to preview over and over once the clip was no longer available. This is so much better! Videos are now also mobile friendly, which is a definite plus.

Santa is well dressed, plays the part and delivers on the personalization. You check the pronunciation of the name used before the call and can preview the video to make any changes before having your child view it. The videos are applicable to even to “big” kids at heart. I definitely will be personalizing a few for more than just my son, Dad is up next! Santa will also be sending a new birthday video to my son in January – a new feature available with the upgrade package (eek!).

The PNP folks have also committed 5% from all web profits to Children’s Hospital foundations globally, which is incredibly heartwarming.

Even if you are not a Christmas crazy like myself, I think we can agree the Christmas magic is enhanced by the happiness your child will show when Santa calls. Let the holidays begin!
