Movie still screen – Happy Halloween – Vector EPS10

I’m definitely not a DIY mom.

Halloween in our household is always store bought costumes, and grocery store snacks.

For me growing up though, I remember my mom would always be creating something. Baking witches fingers, fixing up our costumes, decorating the front porch.

Our family loved Halloween. It wasn’t just because of the candy – although let’s be honest, it’s a huge perk. It was the entire experience – choosing costumes, decorating, eating sweets and seeing all the neighbourhood kids come to the door.

My sister and I would sometimes try to get creative with our costumes but often it turned in to wearing all black with scary makeup. We’d say we were some sort of zombie or dead something-or-other. I remember one year trying to be The Crow but looked more like a strange clown.

My lack of creativity when it comes to these things means that my kids end up with store bought costumes. However, the experience doesn’t seem to be any less great than what I had as a kid, so no regrets here! Really, it’s about hanging out as a family and having fun!

One of the ways we do that is with family Netflix nights, made even better when there’s a specific theme involved!
