Think of the person who is most important to you. Maybe it’s your spouse, your child, parent, sibling, friend…
If I were to ask you “What do you love most about this person?”, I’m sure you would have no trouble coming up with an immediate answer (or 10).
Maybe you love their humour, their creativity, the way they make you feel? Perhaps it’s how selfless they are? Or how they are always there for you?
Now reverse this. Think of that same important person. Think of the thing you dislike most about them? Now you’re putting a little more thought into it right?
Finally, think of the thing you dislike most about yourself……… Boom, how quickly did the list begin to populate in your head?
As woman, it’s in our nature to be giving. To put others first and to think the best of everyone around us. We surround ourselves with people who we enjoy. People who make us feel lucky to have them in our lives. People who we are proud to be associated with.
However, we can just as easily forget about how great we are as well!
You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love & affection. ~Buddha
We are our biggest critic and while we are thinking such amazing thoughts about everyone around us, it’s easy to forget all the great things about ourselves that make us, well, awesome.
Thinking great things about yourself does not make you conceded. It does not take away from all the great things we think of others. Honestly, with each criticism of ourselves, we are simply digging a hole to the next thing on our list that we wish was different.
I’m constantly running late. I’m over-emotional. I am overweight. I worry too much about everything. I hate my nose.
Those are my immediate responses to what I dislike about myself.
Are you having the same difficulties as me? I hope not, but if you are, then you are not alone!
I challenge you!! To spend however long it takes, right now, and think of the one fantastically wonderful thing that you love most about yourself. Bonus if you can think of more than 1. Comment below with your answer and let’s show ourselves a little love today. 🙂

P.S. I love my humourous optimism and ability to make the best out of any situation.
